REFERRALS

Most pediatric concerns can be diagnosed and treated at our office. However, should your child need a consultation from a specialist, our physicians will discuss the proposed referral with you and then initiate that process.

Many insurance companies, some private practice specialists and all referrals to Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center (in Seattle) require a referral originating from the primary care physician.

Most insurance companies require an insurance authorization number, issued by them, through their approved process, to insure proper financial coverage. We will assist you with that as well.

Please note that Mental/Behavioral Health is often handled differently by insurance programs. Please refer to the special phone number on the back of your insurance card to access these benefits. In many cases, this type of referral must be initiated by the parent/guardian as opposed to the physician’s office.

Once initiated by the physician at our office, referrals can be requested before you leave the office or by calling us (206-546-2421 – option #6). We attempt to fully process all referral requests within 1-2 business days.
